FIRST® Robotics Competition

Ages 14-18; Grades 9-12
Under tight deadlines and rules, FIRST® Robotics Competition teams use advanced tools to design, build, and program industrial-size robots for a themed field game played in fast-paced alliances—an experience that closely mirrors real engineering. Along the way, teams build their brand, fundraise to reach their goals, and promote STEM locally. Using the Kit of Parts as a starting point, high school students develop robots for the game released each January and compete on a themed field in three-team alliances that embody Coopertition®. With guidance from adult mentors, teams gain a 360-degree learning experience while strengthening their identity, meeting fundraising targets, and growing STEM engagement in their communities.
